A curette is a round or spoon shaped cutting instrument that allows the practitioner to ‘scoop’ or cut out an area of skin. Within our practice we undertake this minor skin surgery prior to using a Laser in order to treat warts and verrucae.
The combination of curettage followed by the use of a class 4 medical laser will provide the best possible chance of clearing warts and verrucae that have not responded to less invasive treatments such as cryotherapy and caustics.
This treatment is undertaken under local anesthesia and does not require sutures, the wound is dressed and takes 2 – 4 weeks to heal (depending on how aggressive the laser is used).
